This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Supplier Quality Leader. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects.
Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
Leads the selection and development to ensure defect-free performance of the business' supply base.
Develops people capabilities, processes, and tools to continuously improve the critical supplier quality function.
Oversees the supplier quality resources for new product introduction and current products to reduce supplier-related issues, improve process capabilities, and ensure timely project launches.
Establishes effective deployment of relevant purchasing and supplier processes for key components across a variety of programs, commodity resourcing, and other purchasing and supplier activities.
Manages, mentors, and develops Supplier Quality team members to deliver functional excellence and take accountability for results.
Manages project budgets.
Collaborates with leadership to develop long-term strategic quality plans.
Works closely with functional area management to ensure awareness of ongoing quality control issues, supply base, design considerations, and other supplier influenced considerations.
Improves processes for supplier selection and management, new product implementation, and business sourcing on a continuous basis; develops and manages supplier quality reporting measures and methods.

Quality Leadership (Cummins Operating System) - Demonstrates knowledge of the Cummins Operating System, quality management systems by applying the ten practices to assess business segment and functional performance, set strategy aligned with business needs and create consistency of purpose for continuously improving products, processes, services; enables data driven decision making and removes barriers to enable individuals to have line of sight to the customer; uses metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Problem Solving - Solves problems using a systematic analysis process by leveraging industry standard methodologies to create problem traceability and protect the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; identifies the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.
Advanced Product Quality Planning - Leads the technical quality planning and ensures customer satisfaction through structured and measurable processes as defined by industry standard.
Quality System Management - Guides in the practice and application of quality system standards required by international certification bodies, industry specific regulatory authorities and customer’s contractually specified requirements
Supplier Quality Management - Leads all aspects of supplier quality management; helps develop strategy and collaborative supplier partnerships; identifies supplier innovation capabilities; contributes to supplier audit and certification process; tracks supplier performance metrics and acts to quickly resolve issues to improve supplier quality performance.
Minimum 15 years of experience in a Supplier Quality function in a global manufacturing environment.
Minimum eight to ten years of experience in managing global supplier quality teams.
Solid experience with quality methods and techniques, process control systems, and continuous improvement programs.
Experience in a global, matrix industrial manufacturing environment.
Required Education, Licenses or Certifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, or related field required. MBA preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
