Process Quality Technician

Description

Supports Engineers in carrying out production-related and inspection jobs; assists in monitor materials quality in processing plants and making the required adjustments; ensures maintenance of documentation and records.

Works under minimal supervision.

Compares the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment and products to technical specifications to identify defects.

Conducts simple tests (for example on electrical function, reliability, packaging quality).

Records results and prepare simple technical reports.

Provides product and component testing using a range of measurement equipment.

Provides advanced programming, training, and operation of measurement and test equipment.

Assists customers in understanding/interpreting product specifications and application of measurement data.

Participates in measurement uncertainty studies for measurements associated with measurement or calibration results.

Ensures proper maintenance and calibration of the measurement and test equipment.

Measurement Science - Analyzes measurement processes throughout the relevant traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty relevant to the appropriate applied measurement science, “Metrology” e.g. Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical and Radiation and Physical.

Laboratory Management - Leads technical resources while managing the business aspects of a laboratory using measure to control both the technical and business aspects of the organization and assuring the requirements of the appropriate certifications and/or accreditations are met.

Quality Process Management - Applies and manages methods (e.g. SPC, Capability studies, Layered Process Audit, inspection, test) to ensure quality of Cummins products, processes, and services.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

This role is for a 1st shift machining specialized quality technician. In this role job duties will consist of the following:

Proactively Minimizing risk by completing layered process audits, performing capability studies, MSA's, and issue and monitor Quality Alerts.

Drive Continuous Improvements by leading or participating on A3's, documenting MNC/PNCs, and co-leading Fishbone RCA when defects occur.

Develop Quality Knowledge on the shop floor, by responding to quality calls promptly and professionally, mentor and involve Quality champions in the daily work activity, control non-conforming material using POH and MRB review process and working together as a team cross functionally.
