Technical Cleanliness and Calibration Technician
Description
Assists engineers, under moderate supervision, in applying technical principles of measurement science as related to calibration systems and processes.
Follows established processes of assuring Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE) is capable, including traceability through scheduling of internal and external calibrations.
Follows the process of customer response to out-of-tolerance equipment findings.
Performs/participates in gauge capability studies of new gauging prior to release to use.
Follows documented calibration procedures including automated procedures.
Applies statistically optimized calibration cycles that minimizes data quality risks and maximizes M&TE availability.
Assists with gauge calibrations of M&TE using established procedures.
Utilizes the M&TE management system to maintain an accurate M&TE inventory and generates, reports, files and tracks calibration due reports, calibration results, out of tolerance conditions etc.
Participates in inter-laboratory comparisons and Measurement Assurance Programs.
Participates in uncertainty studies associated with measurement or calibration results.
Assists with maintaining the laboratory quality system.
Applies knowledge of applicable quality standards (e.g. 17025, ISO 9001, AITF 16949) and appropriate Cummins procedures.
Purchases appropriate lab services and consumables.
Ensures proper maintenance and calibration of the M&TE, used within scope of work.
Assists with reporting data quality metrics associated with assigned work.

Measurement Science - Analyzes measurement processes throughout the relevant traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty relevant to the appropriate applied measurement science, “Metrology” e.g. Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical and Radiation and Physical.
Laboratory Management - Leads technical resources while managing the business aspects of a laboratory using measure to control both the technical and business aspects of the organization and assuring the requirements of the appropriate certifications and/or accreditations are met.
Data Quality - Identifies, understands and corrects flaws in data that supports effective information governance across operational business processes and decision making.
Dimensional Metrology - Applies dimensional measurement science in the development and application of measurement/inspection processes that deliver capable measurement results, supporting design validation and conformity assessment meeting regulatory, customer and product requirements.
Electrical Metrology - Applies electrical measurement science in the development and application of measurement/inspection processes that deliver capable measurement results, supporting design validation and conformity assessment meeting regulatory, customer and product requirements.
Mechanical Metrology - Applies mechanical measurement science in the development and application of measurement/inspection processes that deliver capable measurement results, supporting design validation and conformity assessment meeting regulatory, customer, and product requirements.
Physical Metrology - Applies physical measurement science in the development and application of measurement/inspection processes that deliver capable measurement results, supporting design validation and conformity assessment meeting regulatory, customer, and product requirements.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
A regionally applicable Certification (e.g. US Department of Labor) or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college program in a relevant field of study.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience
Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.
