This is an exciting opportunity in Mineral Points, Wisconsin for a Senior Plant VPI Quality Associate- HOURLY.

Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.

Supports Engineers in carrying out production-related and inspection jobs; assists in monitor materials quality in processing plants and making the required adjustments; ensures maintenance of documentation and records.

Works under minimal supervision.

Compares the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment and products to technical specifications to identify defects.

Conducts simple tests (for example on electrical function, reliability, packaging quality).

Records results and prepare simple technical reports.

Provides product and component testing using a range of measurement equipment.

Provides advanced programming, training, and operation of measurement and test equipment.

Assists customers in understanding/interpreting product specifications and application of measurement data.

Participates in measurement uncertainty studies for measurements associated with measurement or calibration results.

Ensures proper maintenance and calibration of the measurement and test equipment.

Measurement Science - Analyzes measurement processes throughout the relevant traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty relevant to the appropriate applied measurement science, “Metrology” e.g. Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical and Radiation and Physical.

Laboratory Management - Leads technical resources while managing the business aspects of a laboratory using measure to control both the technical and business aspects of the organization and assuring the requirements of the appropriate certifications and/or accreditations are met.

Quality Process Management - Applies and manages methods (e.g. SPC, Capability studies, Layered Process Audit, inspection, test) to ensure quality of Cummins products, processes, and services.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

Additional Responsibilities Unique to the Job:

Highlightpart measurement challenges at the West plant when running VPI Beta / LimitedProduction parts.

Beengaged 100% with Limited Production / Beta build of all VPI parts on the floorand highlight manufacturing and Quality challenges when running VPI Beta /Limited Production parts in the West plant.

Addresssystemic issues such as weld and non-weld issues (attribute issues) that arecommon across VPI / Limited Production parts and current products at the Westplant.

Identifyprocess improvement opportunities when running VPI Beta / Limited Productionparts.

Providefeedback to disturbance tracker and address issues with Manufacturing.

Providefeedback for waivers / deviations needed for VPI / Limited Production parts atthe West plant.

Assistplant Quality VPI Engineer on PFMEA, CP, MQV work.

AssistVPI Quality and Plant Quality Engineers with Process capability analysis andhighlight characteristics from VPI /Limited Production parts that do not meetcapability threshold.

CompleteCOC tracking sheet for VPI/Limited Production parts by working with VPI team.

Providefeedback on supplied components fit up issues.

Leadroot cause analysis for VPI/Limited Production customer returns and work withCFWT to implement corrective actions.

Assistwith SLP process documentation and Paynter charts for VPI/Limited Productionparts at the West plant.

Providefeedback on 100% inspection of VPI/Limited Production parts at the West plantand act as back up Romer for measuring 100% on sub-assemblies.

Assistin providing training to operators on Quality criteria.

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience.
