Supplier Quality Engineer (Senior) – Filtration BU (Belgium)

Being the important part of the international supplier quality team, you will have the opportunity to work across different projects focused on improvement of supplier quality performance within our Filtration Business Unit.

About the role:

Working in close collaboration with the internal stakeholders (Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain) and external suppliers, the key goal of the position is to achieve zero defects performance with the help of different quality improvement tools and methods. The role will report to the Supply Quality Improvement Group Lead. You will also be:

  • Participate and (or) lead Supplier Quality’s participation in the supplier evaluation, selection, and strategic sourcing and development processes;

  • Responsible for supplier corrective action situations including containment, fault tree analysis / identification of assignable cause, root cause analysis, permanent corrective actions, and overall effectiveness of the problem-solving process;

  • Collaborates with and leads suppliers to understand and meet all product requirements including compliance with the Cummins Supplier Handbook;

  • Oversees the supplier quality resources for the new product introduction and current products to reduce supplier related issues, improve process capabilities, and ensure timely project launches.

  • Responsible Advanced Product Quality Planning processes, including elements of Early Supplier Engagement and Zero Defects Mentality, for related Value Package Change Request and medium to high risk Value Package Introduction projects;

  • Responsible for determining that all requirements are met by the supplier for our most challenging new or changed products and the execution of the Production Part Approval Processes and the

  • Lead the measurement of supplier quality performance according to established procedures;

  • Responsible to lead the continuous improvement activities with suppliers in their efforts to reduce defects.


About you:

You will ideally have supply quality management experience within an engineering environment, however if you enjoy and can evidence a high level of attention to detail, resiliency, and strong communication skills along with an interest in quality management and already had the technical experience in product manufacturing or process manufacturing, we’d love to hear from you. Here are some of the other skills and competencies we’d like you to have:

  • BA degree in Engineering (industrial, mechanical, electrical, process fields of study) or relevant technical discipline;

  • MA and (or) MBA degree in the technical discipline or social discipline is a plus;

  • 5 years of professional experience in Supplier Technical Manufacturing Management, Supplier Product Definition Integration, Product Manufacturing or Process manufacturing;

  • Strong experience with quality management systems (ISO:9001, IATF:16949, other relevant to the industry standards);

  • Experience in IATF Core Tools (PPAP, APQP, FMEA etc.)

  • Fluency in English, as this is our main business language, along with any other languages (French language is prefferable);

  • Strong interest in regular business trips (as the position requires to meet suppliers, up to 25% of the time will be dedicated to travelling).

Please be aware that the position is based in our Filtration BU in Belgium , but due to the remote model of work, we are exposed to the candidates who are based in other countries .
